MCCF Program Overview
Detroit’s emerging contractors bring skill, determination, and ambition to their work. What has often been missing is a coordinated support system that addresses the full scope of operating and growing a construction business.
The Motor City Contractor Fund (MCCF) was established to meet this need—not as a traditional lending program, but as a comprehensive contractor support model that addresses operational, financial, and relational challenges tied to sustainable growth. LifeLine Global Consulting (LGC) served as the Technical Assistance Operator, supporting the design and delivery of the contractor experience in partnership with program stakeholders.
In this role, LGC contributed to developing program infrastructure, including curriculum, coaching approaches, peer-learning structures, evaluation tools, and digital resources. This work was informed by data, industry insight, and direct engagement with contractors, with a focus on practical execution and real-world application. Community-building was intentionally embedded into the program, recognizing the importance of trusted networks alongside strong business operations.
LifeLine Global Consulting continues to support the program by delivering technical assistance to new cohorts, refining program delivery, and applying performance insights to strengthen outcomes over time—ensuring the model remains responsive to contractor needs and aligned with Detroit’s construction ecosystem.
LIFELINE GLOBAL CONSULTING'S Role in the MOTOR CITY CONTRACTOR FUND
Designing the Blueprint. Driving the Build.
At every stage of the Motor City Contractor Fund, LifeLine Global Consulting has been the strategic backbone behind the scenes.
As the Technical Assistance Operator, our responsibility wasn’t just to deliver a program—it was to design, manage, and evolve a contractor experience that was comprehensive, practical, and rooted in the realities of Detroit’s construction ecosystem.
That meant:
PROGRAM ARCHITECTURE
We designed the full learning journey including three contractor tracks (Fast, Fortified, Foundation), custom curriculum, digital platform integration, and a coaching model built on our proprietary DIMES™ framework (Design, Implementation, Management, Evaluation, Support).
COMMUNITY-CENTERED DESIGN
We facilitated working group sessions with city stakeholders, industry leaders, and contractors themselves to ensure the program reflected real-world needs.
1:1 & GROUP COACHING
We delivered over 160 personalized coaching sessions and hosted 12 mastery sessions tied to core business categories—strategy, finance, operations, leadership, and more.
MENTORSHIP & TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE
We managed a network of mentors, service providers, and TA vendors—connecting contractors to trusted guidance and real opportunities.
MEASUREMENT & ACCOUNTABILITY
We tracked data, surfaced insights, and provided cohort-level reports to ensure transparency and continual improvement.
At LifeLine, we don’t believe in one-size-fits-all programming.
We believe in systems that serve people and a strategy that turns capacity into confidence.
THE MOTOR CITY CONTRACTOR FUND EXPERIENCE
The MCCF Program Experience
The MCCF program is structured as an integrated growth experience for Detroit-based contractors, designed to support long-term business development rather than short-term interventions.
Participants engage in a coordinated ecosystem of support across key business areas, including:
EDUCATION
Practical learning focused on construction business fundamentals, financial readiness, compliance, and leadership.
COACHING & TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE
Individual and group support addressing strategy, finance, operations, and growth, with connections to relevant service providers.
COMMUNITY & PEER LEARNING
Opportunities for collaboration, shared learning, and relationship-building through both digital and in-person engagement.
CAPITAL READINESS
Tools and guidance to help contractors strengthen financial practices and prepare for future capital opportunities.
MENTORSHIP
Direct access to local construction leaders and subject matter experts who provided personalized insight, encouragement, and accountability.
This collaborative approach supports contractors in building capacity, confidence, and clarity—positioning them for sustained growth within Detroit’s construction sector.
It wasn’t just about checking boxes. It was about building a business I could be proud of.

LIFELINE IMPACT // CONTRACTOR STORIES
Real People. Real Progress
Behind every data point is a contractor who took a risk, showed up, and built something stronger.
From first-time loan applicants to seasoned builders seeking structure, MCCF contractors didn’t just go through a program—they activated their next level. With targeted coaching, clear plans, and access to a supportive community, these entrepreneurs made bold moves, landed major contracts, and started leading their businesses instead of being buried inside them.
Here are just a few of the many success stories from our pilot cohort:
Launched during the pandemic. Grew from $39K to $456K in revenue. Now applying for $263K in funding with a clear plan—and clear confidence.
“Before this, I wore every hat. Now I’m not just working. I’m growing.”
Kalaya long, Blue Horizon Construction
Went from handling one project at a time to leading multiple crews. Developed a new leadership mindset and is on track for his first million in revenue.
“This program changed how I see my business—and myself as a CEO.”
mario lawler
Hired new staff. Launched a 401K program. Landed two projects with Bedrock and another with General Motors. Revenue jumped from $600K to $1.4M.
“Because of MCCF, I don’t just feel like I’m running a business. I know I am.”
PAIGE AUBIN
Started unregistered. Left with a legitimate, bid-ready business—and two project wins under his belt.
“MCCF gave me the push I needed to go from talk to traction.”
William Brunious
Program cohorts
Cohort-Based by Design. Built to Grow.
The MCCF program is delivered in cohorts—intentional groups of Detroit-based contractors brought together for shared learning, peer support, and tailored business development.
Each cohort builds on the last, incorporating feedback, insights, and lessons learned to strengthen the program with every cycle.
